Abstract
Benzothiazole based molecular species are among the important heterocyclic compounds which are usually characterised by fluorescence that covers a wide spectral range. Herein, we present synthesis and luminescent behaviour of benzothiazole based derivatives and their rigidified boron(III) N∧O chelates. Significant tuning of emission and absorption behaviour of the compounds led us to identify compositions of the complimentary colours emitted from these molecular species both in solution (CIE coordinates: x = 0.35753, y = 0.3315) as well as in the solid (CIE coordinates: x = 0.34753, y = 0.32062) state that furnished nearly white light emission. This work involving structurally simpler and easy to synthesise molecular species with different emission properties, importantly in the solid state, may find potential application in the context of colored and white-emitting materials.
