Abstract

A transducer for an ultrasonic motor for cryogenic temperature environment was fabricated. In the environment, a thermal stress is generated on the transducer. The motor is composed of a bolt-clamped Langevin-type transducer (BLT) and a rotor. To reduce the influence by thermal stress shift and to have high vibration velocity, a constituent material of the BLT is modified. The body parts of the BLT was made of SUS304 and the bolt of the BLT was made of titanium. We have evaluated the relationship between vibration velocity and the thermal stress. We have succeeded in reducing the thermal stress under the temperature condition from 4.5K to 293K.
