Abstract
In the present study, fracture toughness and impact absorption of biomass based plastics that consist of poly lactic acid (PLA) and kenaf short fiber, which fixates its CO_2 efficiently was evaluated. Adding this fiber to PLA greatly increases its young's modulus and impact strength. However, fracture toughness almost showed the constant value. From these results, change of the mechanical property by kenaf content is certainly observed, and application for a structure material use is shown to be possible.
