Abstract

Purpose of this study is to measure the static strains by using piezoelectric polymer films (PVDF films) and specialized equipment. Combined stress state with bending and torsion was applied as a load condition in the strain measurement experiments. Strain value under combined load is measured in the four following methods - one with traditional geometry of PVDF films and the other with suggested novel geometry of PVDF films and the strain gauges, furthermore, theoretical value by strength of materials-for comparison. As a result, the strain measurement method using PVDF films was also applicable under the combined load, and it was proved that the strain value measured with existing PVDF films configuration is similar to that measured with proposal one.
