Abstract
Specialists from 5 fields of dentistry came together on February 9 and 10, 2001, in Dallas to learn from one another and to discuss how they can work together to enhance oral health care for their patients. During a portion of the conference, leaders from the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Periodontology, the American College of Prosthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists were asked to give overviews of trends in their respective fields. The presenters were James L. Walsh, Paul S. Casamassimo, Michael McGuire, Jonathan L. Ferencz, and William H. DeKock. The talks of Drs McGuire and Casamassimo are presented here.
