Abstract

Industry is a major consumer of water. Among other purposes, it produce ultra-pure water for its own use. This chapter gives an outline of water streams and their quality in an industrial and power plant setting. Two main treatment technologies, ion exchange and RO, are discussed. The effect of membrane fouling in practise is dealt with in detail in this chapter. To help future water treatment operators, a description of root cause analysis is provided including recommended reading.
