Abstract
The use of local biomass as energy source supports the development of the region toward self-sufficiency and helps to tackle the growth of greenhouse gas emissions at the local and regional level. Considering bioenergy production in full perspective including technical, economic, and ecological aspects, biomass properties and quality are central factors when choosing the refining methods. These properties include moisture content, heating value, proximate analysis, ultimate analysis, bulk density, and alkali metal content.
