Abstract
A neutron filter has been developed which uses scandium as the primary filtering material and separated isotopes of 60Ni and 54Fe as secondary filter materials. High energy neutron contamination is reduced to 15% as compared to some previously reported results in which contaminant was ∼50%. Details of the filter construction and use of several other secondary materials (Co, Ti, Mg, Al) to optimize beam purity and intensity are discussed.
