2 - Development of ceramic-controlled piezoelectric devices for biomedical applications

Abstract

In material science, ferroelectric materials, called smart materials, which possess multifunctional properties like dielectric property, piezoelectric, and pyroelectric properties, have great potential interest among the researchers. These materials possess spontaneous polarization when placed in an external electric field. All ferroelectrics are piezoelectric materials in which the dipole moments are already aligned in the absence of external electric field or can be aligned in the presence of an external electric field. Moreover, these materials are electrostrictive materials with good dielectric, pyroelectric properties, and piezoelectric properties. Here our focus is on the piezoelectric property of the smart materials and applicability in the field of biomedical field.
