Abstract
In the January 1956 issue of this journal we published Mr. Tang Lan's essay "Lun Makesizhuyi lilun he Zhongguo wenzi gaige jiben wenti" [Marxist Theory and the Basic Problems in the Reform of Chinese Writing] and other essays which disagreed with it. We are pleased to report now that Mr. Tang has finally responded to this journal's request and submitted another essay on the subject to us; his essay is being published in this issue and we ask readers to examine it.
