Abstract

A 2 × 2 fluorescent sensor array for Pb2+, Cd2+, Cr3+ and Hg2+ is fabricated by covalently immobilizing four kinds of fluoroionophores onto the surface of silicon nanowire arrays. By observing the variation of the individual fluorescence emission, the sensor array can realize the simultaneous detection of above four kinds of heavy metal ions, and little cross-interference was found. The present study paves a way for further fabrication of novel multi-target sensor arrays with thumbnail dimension to realize efficiently biological and environmental analysis.
