Abstract
This paper is an account of the 19th Biennial British Dam Society (BDS) Conference 2016 – Site Tour 3 Floods, Spillways and Filters. Fifty BDS delegates embarked upon a series of technical tours of the United Utilities and Environment Agency dam schemes in Lancashire. This paper describes the general background of the projects visited as part of these tours, supplemented by accounts by the client and contractors for the following projects: Technical Tour 1st Site Visit – Croston Flood Risk Management Scheme; Technical Tour 2nd Site Visit – Belmont Impounding Reservoir; Technical Tour 3rd Site Visit – Springs Impounding Reservoir.
