μ-[1,9-Bis(diphenylphosphino)-3,7-dithianonane]-bis[dichloropalladium(II)

C31H34CI4P2Pd2S2,[Pd2(C31H34P2S2)CI4 ] , M r = 887.29, triclin!c, P 1, a = 9.914 (1), b = 12.713 (2), c = 13.905 (2) A, a' = 84.102 (9), fl = 81.041 (9), y = 79.675 (9) ° , V= 1698A 3, z = 2, D m = 1.72, D x = 1.74 Mg m -3, final R = 0.036 for 3045 observed reflexions. 1,9-Bis(diphenylphosphino)-3,7dithianonane, (C6Hs)2P(CH2)2S(CH2)aS(CH2) 2P(C6Hs) 2, (pssp), acts as a bis(bidentate) ligand through the two P and two S atoms. The complex between the ligand and PdCI 2 is dinuclear. One P atom and the closest S atom are bonded to one Pd atom forming a five-membered ring (PdPC2S). The two remaining places in the square plane around the Pd atom are occupied by two CI atoms in cis positions. The other S and P atoms of the same ligand molecule are bonded to another Pd atom in the same way as above. The compound is diamagnetic. Introduet|on.
