Abstract
Since Amerasia Journal began publishing the annual bibliography in 1977, the yearly compilations have been generally dominated by works dealing with Chinese and Japanese Americans. This year, the material on Chinese Americans continues to be most numerous but it is now followed by the literature on Southeast Asians. The interest in these two groups partly reflects the current composition of recent immigration to the United States. Yet, the literature on Pilipinos, who are projected to be the largest Asian group in the U.S. by the 1990 census, remains relatively sparse. As noted in last year’s bibliography, Amerasia Journal now utilizes computer searching to gather its entries. There is a bias in these abstracts since most community, small press publications, and monographs by academic bodies such as ethnic studies centers are not listed. We therefore ask that users of the bibliography keep us informed or send us copies of materials they believe should be included in the bibliography. This year, searches were made of the following databases: America: Histmy and L f e , D i s s m e Abstracts, ERIC, Mental Health Abstracts, Psychological Information, and Sociological Abstracts. The assistance of Betty Takahashi of the University of California, Los Angeles, Research Library, and Susan N. Montepio, publications secretary, was invaluable in preparing this year’s compilation.
