Abstract

This article aims to accurately examine the facts of cases regarding Japan's invasion of Dokdo and Korea's response in 1953~1954. Through this, we aim to understand the trend of Japan's provocation of Dokdo at that period and the current status of Korea's management of Dokdo. According to the materials of the two countries that have been revealed so far, there are cases where the facts of each case are different. Therefore, by comparatively examining the primary and secondary documents from both sides of Korea and Japan, I attempt to approach the substantive truth of the incidents more closely. The Japanese invasion of Dokdo began in earnest after Dokdo was lifted from the bombing range in May 1953. After that, between 1953 and 1954, there were 26 to 37 Japanese invasions of Dokdo. This article reviewed the 17 cases from 1953 and 9 cases from 1954 among Japanese invasions of Dokdo . During this period, almost all intrusions by Japan were carried out by Japanese patrol ships or local government ships, except for one by high school training ships. Meanwhile, Korea which possessed Dokdo, blocked Japan's invasion of Dokdo through coopera tion between the government and the private sector.
