Abstract

Labour market of Thrace Region has a high young labour supply and most of the labour force is employed in service sector. Although there are areas where farming is done, it is revealed that employment in farming sector has decreased in time. Especially, the move of some of industry in Istanbul to the region has caused the labour force in farming to turn to industry and altered the structure of employment. Because labour market is affected most by economic fluctuations, increase in unemployment rates occurs as a result of contraction in production due to a decrease in real domestic demands during the crisis periods. After the 2008 global crisis in Thrace Region, negative developments took place in labour market and while there was increase in labour force supply, a decrease in employment rate occurred
