Abstract
This chapter is focused on the key concepts and background knowledge of smart electronic textiles. To highlight the present situation of research on smart textile, the history of wearable electronics was first presented. Afterward, the method of developing smart textiles, including manufacturing of fabric, embedding sensors and actuators, integrating and connection, connectivity and operating systems, and properties of smart electronic textiles is then summarized. Application of smart electronic textiles in different fields is also discussed in this chapter. This chapter concludes by addressing the problems of smart textiles in current and future research and development.
