Abstract

This chapter describes the characteristics of conventional ferritic and martensitic steels as out-of-core materials for Generation IV nuclear reactors. Pedigree of materials, application and challenges, evaluation technologies, fabrication technologies, and code qualification are discussed in terms of current status and path forward.
