Abstract
This chapter discusses self-assembled biomaterials based on peptide and nucleic acid building blocks and their applications in soft and hard tissue engineering. Two types of peptide-based assemblies are presented: self-complementary ionic peptides and surfactant-like peptide amphiphiles. Then, the biomedical applications of these materials in tissue engineering are discussed. The chapter then presents nucleic acid-based self-assembled rosette nanotubes (RNTs) and their applications in tissue engineering.
