Abstract

Popularly known as Al-Kashshaaf is a commentary on the Quran by Al-Zamakhshri written in the 12th century.it is famous for its deep linguistic analysis, demonstrations of supremacy of declamation of Quran and the representation literary elements and figurative speech of Quran. In this tafsir, Al-Zamakhshri referred to many older works and commentaries, especially Zeccac'sMean'il Quran. Islamic jurisprudence is deduced according to the Hanfi school of thought. Some sufi origin and comments are criticized. One of the most criticized aspects of Al-Zamakhshri's interpretation of Quranic verses according to the Mu'tazillah view point. Although Sunni scholars have recognized his book as a landmark. The research concludes by arguing that the tafsir provide a comprehensive source of linguistic, consistent with instinct and reason, and emphasizes that Quran has possessed ability to answers to all of today’s issues. The tafsirKashshaaf is basic key and source for those people who raise the questions on the text of Quran especially orientalists.
