Abstract

Time Warner is a global leader in media and entertainment with the focus on television networks and film and TV entertainment. The operating divisions like Home Office Inc., Turner, and Warner Bros. have emerged as symbols of creativity and excellence. Turner owns and operates portfolio of domestic and international cable television networks which provides entertainment, sports, kids, and news programming on television and digital platforms for consumers throughout the world. Home Box Office (HBO) offers original productions which include series, films documentaries, championship boxing, concerts, and family as well as Hollywood blockbusters. Warner Bros. is an entertainment industry leader with business focus in feature films, television, home entertainment, video games, and consumer products. Time Warner’s strategy is to become the world’s leading video content company. Time Warner focusses on expansion in the most attractive global territories to take advantage of growing demand for content worldwide. Time Warner focuses on using its industry leading operating scale and brands to create, package, and deliver high quality content globally. The strategy of Turner is to strengthen the programming on its cable television networks by focusing on high quality original programming, modifying the mix of programming on its networks and repositioning or rebranding of some of its networks. Turner focusses on maintenance of Cable News Network’s (CNN) leadership position in worldwide breaking-news and political coverage. The demand for digital distribution offers immense strategic opportunities for Warner Bros. Time Warner Inc. has engaged in a number of mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate actions over the years. In 1990, Time Inc. merger with Warner Communication (WCI) to form Time Warner Inc. In 1995, Time Warner merged with Turner Broadcasting. This merger boosted Time-Warner’s position as the world’s largest entertainment and media conglomerate. America Online and Time Warner completed their historic merger on January 2001. The merger created the world’s largest vertically integrated media and Entertainment Company. Time Warner spun off AOL and, Time Warner Cable in 2009 and Time Inc. during the year 2014.
