Abstract
Previously we characterized a cyanide (CN) toxidrome that includes altered mental status, abnormal respiratory pattern, low systolic blood pressure with increased heart rate, and metabolic acidosis. In the current study, we compared vital signs in pure carbon monoxide and pure cyanide poisonings presenting with neurological signs and symptoms of the same severity, since it is widely believed that both toxicants induce similar respiratory and cardiovascular abnormalities.
