Abstract

A summary of the more relevant studies and the different applications of ceramic recycled aggregates in construction have been dealt in this chapter. Further, the structural ceramic waste in the manufacturing of concrete used in prestressed joists has been studied. All the granular skeleton of the concrete has been replaced by ceramic recycled aggregates (coarse and fine fraction). The more relevant physical and mechanical properties and the deferred strains measured on the concrete have been analyzed. Considering the required properties of concrete used in the manufacturing of prestressed joists, the natural aggregates can be replaced up to 35% by recycled ceramic aggregates without retrogressing their properties under the standard requirements.
