Abstract
A study is reported of a survey of staple-length measurements in Australian crossbred fleece wool. lt is shown that staple-length variation within a sale lot for crossbred fleece wool was much higher than that in merino fleece wools of similar fibre diameter but very similar to that of merino skirtings. The average staple length of the crossbred fleece wools was 110 mm, which was longer than that of merino fleece wools and merino skirtings of similar fibre diameter.
