Abstract

The nasolacrimal system is an important framework for tear flow drainage from the external eye toward the nasal cavity. Abnormalities of tearing, such as epiphora, can typically be traced back to disorders of the nasolacrimal duct, most commonly congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction in children. Past generations have previously treated this condition with probing and irrigation, but the advent of endoscopic guidance to direct therapy along the nasolacrimal system has led to a general improvement in outcomes. This chapter presents the common differential diagnosis of congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction in children and the current management strategies and endoscopic techniques used to treat this condition.
