Abstract

This chapter presents a few examples of arrangements of objects and properties of arrangements. It discusses the problem of finding systems of distinct representatives of sets of objects, and arrangements having various symmetries. The Kirkman Schoolgirl Problem has important modern applications to balanced incomplete block designs which are arrangements. Further sections are connected with designs and also with the projective planes. The chapter also discusses mention magic squares and a generalization of Latin squares called Room squares along with its theory, unsolved exercises and step by step solved examples.
