Abstract

Human trafficking is labor or sexual exploitation through the means of fraud or coercion. It is estimated that 87% of trafficked victims encounter a healthcare provider during captivity, however, only about 1% of all hospitals nationwide have policies for treating these patients. We wanted to determine whether an educational seminar would alter confidence levels in identifying trafficked patients and delivering trauma-informed care.
