Abstract

The clerodane-type diterpenoid 5S,8R,9R,10R,12S-15,16-epoxy-3,13(16),14-neoclerodatrien-17,12:18,19diolide was isolated during a chemical study of the aerial part of the terrestrial plant Galatella punctata. Its structure was elucidated using IR, PMR, and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The crystal and molecular structure of this diterpene was determined by an x-ray crystal structure analysis; the absolute configuration, by optical circular dichroism.
