Abstract
A new oxylipin, 15( R)-hydroxy-9( Z),12( Z)-octadecadienoic acid (15( R)-hydroxylinoleic acid), was isolated from oat seeds. Its structure was determined by chemical and spectroscopic methods. Oat seeds contained 0.6–0.7 mg g −1 of the new compound in esterified form. The amounts found in seeds of barley, rye and wheat, however, were less than 1 μg g −1.
