Abstract

Hybrid processes are one of most promising separation methods to separate close boiling, azeotropes, low solvent content mixtures, etc. This is an energy efficient separation technology compared to conventional separation processes. Pervaporation (PV)–distillation hybrid processes gets considerable attention in recent years, and some of the processes are commercialized in this span. In this chapter, different PV hybrid processes are well explained, especially more attention to distillation–PV processes. The most efficient and economical configurations of distillation–PV hybrid processes are well explained in the chapter. Simulation studies play an important role in selecting a suitable configuration and process designing. The basics of simulations are well discussed in the chapter with suitable examples. Thus the present chapter gives an overview of different PV-based hybrid processes.
