Abstract
After an introduction to the function of reinforcement, the different types of reinforcing mechanisms are explained. Types of geotextiles are introduced that are used in walls, berms, and slope reinforcement and their key properties and behavior in terms of mechanical properties, endurance properties, and geotextile degradation. The basic theory of reinforced soil is presented.
