Abstract

This chapter describes in detail four types of hydrogen production by using chemical looping technologies with CO2 capture: (1) steam reforming integrated with chemical looping combustion; (2) auto-thermal chemical looping reforming; (3) chemical looping gasification; and (4) chemical looping with water splitting. The chapter first shows the principles of each technology. Then, the state of the art is presented, including an analysis of the oxygen carrier materials being used as well as the status of development of each option based on chemical looping for hydrogen production.
