Abstract

Flexible Organic LCD (OLCD) is a new display technology, developed by FlexEnable, based on organic thin‐film transistors (OTFTs) on plastic substrates. With optical performance being one of the most important attributes of any display, achieving glass‐like optical performance on plastic is a key requirement for mass market adoption. We explain how the use of low temperature processes (below 100°C) not only allows the use of plastic substrates (TAC) with near ideal optical properties, but also brings cost, yield and scalability advantages in manufacturing compared to flexible display approaches using inorganic TFTs that require much higher processing temperatures.
