Abstract

Particulate matter (PM) emitted from diesel engines has harmful influences on human body and the regulations on the emission have become increasingly stringent. It is difficult for conventional electrostatic precipitators to treat the highly conductive PM in diesel exhaust gas. This study aims to achieve the electrostatic collection of PM with the electrode configuration that enables both the control of PM re-entrainment and the incineration of the collected PM with nonthermal plasma. The result of a basic PM collection test with DC corona discharge showed a collection efficiency of 76%.
