Abstract

The last decade has seen an extensive exploration of innovative battery materials because of the great increase in demand for energy storage appliances. The aim of the chapter is to provide a general overview of the synthetic methods of manufacturing one-dimensional metal oxide materials for energy storage applications that are currently present in literature (e.g., lithium, sodium, potassium, aluminum, and zinc batteries). The possible methods of fabrication of nanofibers (NFs) and nanowires (NWs) are illustrated, correlating their morphological aspect with their electrochemical performance and their application as a positive or negative active material or ceramic filler for polymer electrolytes.
