Abstract

Results obtained using the Monte-Carlo three-dimensional code MORSE and the two-dimensional discrete ordinate code DORT are compared. The assembly geometry was an iron-water cylinder with height of 200 cm, diameter of 100 cm and hollow channel 10 cm in diameter. 14 MeV neutrons were emitted isotropically from a point source situated at the channel axis 20 cm away from the channel origin. The neutron spectra and the integral fluxes over wide energy intervals of fluxes were calculated at detector locations along the channel. A 27-group neutron library used by MORSE was prepared in P5 approximation employing SUPERTOG, using ENDF/B-4 for H and Fe, and ENDL-II for O. A 35-group neutron library FLUNG was also applied. Comparison of the results shows a consistency of flux values along the channel which are within the fraction standard deviation limits of the MORSE calculations.
