Abstract
In this chapter, we present some practical details in relation to an existing and already deployed indoor passive localization system for occupancy services. The system is running after 18 months in a lecture building of 6000 square meters with 20 classrooms and 4000 frequent users. It is able to track unmodified and heterogeneous mobile devices after a quick and straightforward training phase. The current deployment was especially designed for occupancy purposes, since occupancy is relevant information about key aspects such as energy consumption or comfort management. Energy-saving and environmental quality strategies can be carried out in response to real-time facility occupancy, and these were two main objectives of this initiative with institutional support. Our experience after 18 months is summarized analyzing some important parameters derived from the deployment, which have a direct impact on both accuracy and time granularity of the localization system.
