Abstract

Julian Gröbner, Guest editor and chairman of the NEWRAD scientific committee Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium Davos, World Radiation Center (PMOD/WRC)Dorfstrasse 337260 Davos Dorf, SwitzerlandThe 13th International Conference on New Developments and Applications in Optical Radiometry (NEWRAD 2017) was held at the scenic waterfront district Odaiba, in Tokyo Japan, from 13 to 16 June 2017. The local organising committee and its chairman Tatsuya Zama from the National Metrology Institute of Japan organised an outstanding conference with Oral and Poster sessions, alongside memorable events such as the scenic Yakatabune cruise through Tokyo Harbour. The conference was attended by 119 participants, the majority coming from National Metrology Institutes and the remote sensing community.129 presentations were submitted, of which 44 were selected for oral presentations, while the remaining were presented as posters during two extended lunch-time breaks, giving the chance to the participants for in-depth discussions. The next NEWRAD conference will be organised by John Lehman, from the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) at Boulder, Colorado, U.S. in early summer 2020.
