Abstract

The structure of polyvinylmethyldi(alkoxy)silanes shows that polymerization of the monomers differs from polymerization by the usual vinyl scheme. The polymers constitute branched systems, sets of fragments bounded by silicon atoms with the general formula ▪ where the fraction of fragments with n=1 amounts to 80–85% for the isopropoxy derivative, 65% for the propoxy derivative and 35–40% for the methoxy derivative. For the first two polymers in the other fragments n=2 the methoxy derivative also contains longer fragments.
