13 - Concluding Remarks

Abstract

This chapter looks at the way in which the intelligent communication system affects industry and people's daily lives. The intelligent communication system represents a fusion of intelligent processing and communication technology. It provides human-friendly communication services and advanced description methods. At the same time, it provides a human-friendly communication environment where human beings, real or virtual, are brought together through communication networks for cooperative work. The intelligent communication system will be an important tool for achieving a sustainable economy. By shifting to new modes based on the intelligent communication system, we should be able to alleviate such problems as out-of-control energy consumption; this will have a positive effect. However, there could be a negative effect as well. The fusion of physical reality and virtual reality (VR) could make it very difficult to distinguish between real life and virtual life. There is always the possibility that the intelligent communication system will be used for illegal purposes. Therefore, we must improve our abilities to discriminate between legal and illegal products if we want to survive and enjoy life in the future.
