Abstract
OCD is a multifactorial condition resulting from a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Modern genomic methods demonstrate that the genetic architecture of OCD is primarily polygenic with a contribution from rare genomic variants of large effect. It is hypothesized that OCD symptom subtypes may be associated with a distinct set of underlying psychological and biological mechanisms; however, it remains unclear whether these clinical subtypes represent genetic subtypes as well.
