Abstract

In this chapter, we will explore the operational environment experienced by photovoltaic modules. We will begin by introducing the stress factors that exist due to the climate in which photovoltaic modules are deployed and the unique stress factors that are introduced from the system design. To understand how photovoltaic modules respond to operational conditions in the field, we will discuss the methods for evaluating the module and system performance during and after field deployment. Finally, we will provide insights derived from existing work tolook at how unique environments impact the reliability and durability of photovoltaic modules.
