Abstract
Electrochemical monitoring is a method to obtain in-situ information on water chemistry and corrosion conditions relevant for light water reactor (LWR) systems without sampling and cooling of the water for subsequent analysis. Electrochemical electrodes can be inserted directly into the system and give local information concerning the redox and the corrosion conditions. Three main applications are covered: optimization of hydrogen addition during hydrogen water chemistry in boiling water reactors (BWRs), hydrogen control in the primary system of pressurized water reactors (PWRs) and oxygen control and detection of redox transients in PWR secondary systems.
