Abstract

Since electrochemical biosensors provide practicality, sensitivity, and fast response, these systems can be integrated with labs-on-chips (LOCs) to obtain excellent point of care (POC) analytical platforms. These devices provide early diagnosis of diseases and increase the patient's recovery possibility. In this chapter, the concept of electrochemical biosensors is explained in terms of electrochemical methods that are used in their transduction systems and biological interplays. Types of nanomaterials that have been used in electrochemical biosensors are also briefly presented. Then, the combination of these systems with LOCs is discussed and some illustrative examples are presented.
