Abstract

The selective O -alkylation of phenolic compounds over alkali oxides supported on silica and the N -alkylation of aniline over Cs 2 O supported on different porous materials are reported. The basicity of the catalysts has been characterized by the adsorption of CO 2 (TPD and FTIR spectra) and related to the activity and selectivity of the catalysts in these reactions. A kinetic analysis of the methylation of dihydroxy benzenes over different alkali loaded silica catalysts is presented. The influence of the basicity of the support and zeolite structural characteristics on the electronic charge of supported Pt and its catalytic activity and selectivity in the dehydrocycliztion of n-hexane is reported.
