Abstract

In the automatic collision avoidance system with automatic steering and automatic braking for automobile, limit time to collision (TTC) is obtained by computer simulation of obstacle avoidance with variation of deceleration. Avoidance method (automatic steering only or both automatic steering and automatic braking) having the shortest limit TTC and the conditions such as deceleration are analyzed. As a result, in ordinary speed range of around 30 to 70 km/h, automatic steering only or automatic steering with about 0.1G automatic braking is better for the obstacle avoidance, if the steering avoidance has priority to the braking.
