Abstract

In this chapter, burr formations during machining processes are investigated in turning, drilling, and milling using available literature. In each machining process, a thorough review has been conducted focusing on the nature and causes of burr formation and the effect of input variable on the burr formation in selective machining processes. It has been observed that tool geometry, tool material, and workpiece material are the factors that most affect burr formation. The need for a thorough study to ascertain the effect of coolant, especially vegetable oil–based coolant, on burr formation has been highlighted.
