Abstract

The current anticorruption campaign in China is unprecedented in scope, and yet its overall impact is mitigated. Analyzing the political and legal frameworks under which the Party-State fights corruption, this chapter shows the limits of the anticorruption efforts and offers insights into the workings of the Chinese political apparatus. Anticorruption campaigns are demonstrative of the workings of the Party-State rather than the evidence of a fundamental political change in China.
