Abstract

This paper proposes building a general and operational framework for incorporating intrahousehold interactions in the regional travel demand model. Three principal levels of intrahousehold interaction are: coordinated principa; daily pattern types; episodic joint activity and travel; and intrahousehold allocation of maintenance activities. The paper discusses model structures, emphasizing the advantages of the simultaneous approach relative to the sequential method, and suggests implications for practical applications.
