Abstract

This chapter focuses on published reflectance spectra of single materials, usually measured close to the normal incidence and over limited spectral ranges. The advantage of calculated spectra is that they can be shown over a wide wavelength range and calculated at any angle of incidence. The disadvantage is that if the optical constants are not correct, neither are the spectra. The optical constants are accurate enough to show correct spectral features and to enable calculation of accurate reflectance values. Only materials that have proven useful as reflecting coatings or components of multilayers have been selected.
